To put it short … I was expecting the Kaiser to make something happier and more spring-like. All the previous Chanel collections were lighthearted and incredibly feminine, so I was really surprised to see something as gloomy and dark as the following Spring/ Summer 2011 range.

Karl Lagerfeld explained it with the fact he was inspired by Last Year at Marienbad, the film from the early sixties. The designs perfectly correspond to the atmosphere of the film, but to my mind this explanation is rather poor.

What is more, all the outfits in Chanel Spring/ Summer 2011 collection looked somehow unfinished. I loved only accessories and shoes, what about you?
